Cosmetics haul

I've done a bit of make up shopping since Christmas and I was just waiting for one more delivery before I posted this, and it came yesterday so here we go. I'm not gonna blab on too much because I will probably be doing reviews on everything at some point anyway.

I made my first ever Elf purchases this month, I ordered the products from the website so I had to kind of guess on shades etc but I'm usually the lightest in everything so I think I made the right choices. Only 4 of the items were for me, the others were for my sisters birthday present so I will have to ask her how she gets on with them at a later date.

For me I got the correcting concealer palette £3.95, the contouring/blush palette £3.95, the maximum coverage concealer £3.95 and their stippling brush £3.95.

I repurchased my trusty High Beam by Benefit £19.50. I love this stuff, it just lasts forever!

I finally decided to get the MAC Brush Cleanser £10 and the super hyped up Paint Pot in Painterly £15 and I literally LOVE both of them, I have used the brush cleanser soooooo much I think I am actually a bit addicted and I'm going to limit myself to once a week from now on.

I obviously had to get the new Baby Skin by Maybelline £7.99, and since there was a buy one get one half price offer on at Boots I thought I would try a new foundation, I picked the Dream Satin Liquid £7.99 which I have to say I am actually loving.

You guessed it, the Mac Brush cleanser was purchased in order to look after my new babies, the Real Techniques brushes. I finally decided to get some "decent" make up brushes, and by decent I mean, not from eBay (I usually just get sets from eBay as they are cheap and cheerful, very soft and you get about 20 for a tenner). So I thought it was about time to invest in some special ones, and since the bloggers tell me that these are the brushes to buy, I went ahead and bought them.

I decided not to get the sets of Brushes as there is always going to be one or two that I will never use, so instead I chose individual brushes that I would definitely get the use out of, I went for The powder Brush (£8.24 www.amazon.co.uk), The face Brush (£7.49 www.amazon.co.uk), The Setting Brush (£8.99 www.boots.com) and The Blush Brush (£9.99 www.boots.com). I am really enjoying these brushes so far and even though there are thousands on the Internet already I will be putting a review up at some point.

Serene Saturday

bath routine

Well I know everybody blogs about their relaxing Sundays, but unfortunately I have to work tomorrow :( so I have had a relaxing serene Saturday instead.

I actually woke up really early today, got up,got my toast, did my make up (I knew I wasn't going out today so I didn't really wear much, I had a sample of the Garnier BB cream that I wanted to try, it's in Medium shade which is too dark so I had to try it on a day where the world wouldn't see me, its pretty matte but still looks alive, I quite like it so I'm gonna investigate the Light shade, I tried out my new concealer that came in the post today Maximum Coverage Concealer by Elf, Thick & Fast mascara by Soap & Glory, a Maybelline lipliner with Clinique Superfbalm on top), laid on my bed watching Youtube videos and managed to fall asleep again, so my day didn't actually truly start until 1.30pm.

I spent some time rearranging my storage in my room and my layout again and then went through some old make up and toiletries to have a clear out so I had a pretty productive day which has ended in a nice relaxing bath, hair masque and I think I'm gonna paint my nails in a while too.

Firstly while the bath was running (I used Candy Mountain bath crumble by Lush @ www.lush.co.uk in my bath today), I lit my candles so that my room smelt lovely when I came back in. I have the Pink Jasmine one from Primark (about £2) and the Vanilla Cupcake one from Yankee Candle (about £20) burning today.

When I get in the bath, the first thing I do I wash my hair and leave the conditioner in whilst I wash my face, so today, shock horror, I have actually run out of shampoo so I had a little rummage and found this travel sized one from Toni&Guy which actually smells pretty good. I then used my lovely Herbal Essences Bee Strong Intense Hair masque from the middle to the ends of my hair, clipped it up and put a shower cap over for 5 minutes to keep the heat in helping the moisture sink further in.

Then I washed my face with Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit face wash, it smells so fresh and my face truly feels squeaky clean after. Then I exfoliated my entire face (sometimes I just pick my dry areas) with Neutrogena Pink grapefruit Daily Scrub which is really gentle on the skin, the exfoliating beads are tiny so I like this one as I find sometimes you take off too much skin and become super shiny.

I decided to go for Snow Fairy Shower Gel by Lush today, it was a toss up between this and Rose Jam, but I have more of this so my Rosé Jam is precious! Then I had a scrub up with Soap & Glory Scrub 'em and leave 'em body buff, I don't exfoliate every time I have a bath because number 1 I am lazy and number 2 I don't think it's necessary, but today I had some fake tan reminance that had to go, the beads in this are huge, but I think because they are so big it still doesn't kind of harm the skin because I find most of it just falls off my hand to be honest but it must work because every time I use it I feel so smooth, plus I love the smell!

Lastly, I moisturised my whole body (not face) with Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Body Butter, which if you have read my recent 'Top 10 Moisturizers of all time' you will know, is my ultimate favourite. Bit of my favourite deodorant Nivea Pearl & Beauty, not so sure that this even works but I'm totally biased because of the smell. Then for my face I used Clean & Clear Advantage Spot treatment which also smells so good, considering its a spot treatment, I love this stuff I've been through like 20 tubes!! And a little bit of my Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit moisturiser, I'm not a great fan of cream moisturisers for the face, I actually only own 2, but I like this one as its very light and oil free so I don't find it to clog me up.

All of the products pictured above are available at www.boots.com, except my candles and the Snow Fairy shower gel from www.lush.co.uk.

Sale bargains

Christmas sales

I know it's a bit late but I have only just realised I didn't do a 'Christmas sales' post, so here we go.

I got the 'Christmas Cookie' Yankee candle in Clintons, unfortunately I could only get the medium jar because they had sold out of the large ones but it was only £12 down from £17 so can't complain.

Definitely had to hit the Lush sale since my extreme obsession with Lush has set in big time, stocked up on 2 more giant bottles of Snow Fairy, unfortunately the Rose Jam I was sooooo desiring was sold out in the bigger bottle.... So I got FIVE of the 100ml bottles (I was so upset because I was online before I went out shopping and they had all sizes available, none in store, and when I went back online they only had 100ml bottles), the man in the shop seems to think it'll be back on the shelves in a few months though, so fingers crossed. I got a couple of Candy Mountains and a couple of bottles of Tea Tree Water my new love, (all of the above was half its usual price). I got a couple of full priced products that I'd been craving, the Fun bar in Pink and the Fair Trade Foot Lotion.

I also got a Vanilla body butter from The Body shop at only £5, usually £13.

I'm a total sucker for perfumes, they are my weakness so I had a bit of a spree.

Firstly the Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf, my ultimate favourite perfume, was sold out online at boots as it had gone down to £52 for the set, but I managed to get it from someone selling an unwanted gift on eBay for the same price, so to me it's still a sale bargain. (50ml eau de parfum, rrp £69, with a 40ml body cream and a 50ml shower gel).

I then went to a huge Boots near me and they still had some of the Manifesto by YSL gift sets available, this is a second favourite (along with Alien by Thierry Mugler), so I picked up the 50ml eau de parfum gift box which also came with a 10ml purse spray for just £36!!!!! So amazing.

And lastly, a few days after the manifesto excitement I went to another Boots store and just inside the door were the gift boxes of Lady Gaga's perfume Fame, which i have run out of, it is a 50ml eau de parfum with a 75ml body cream and a 75ml shower gel for, wait for it..... £16. I was so pleased. (My mum actually gave me the money back for this as she wanted to get it for my birthday, so that was an added bonus, it ended up being free!)

I think I did pretty well in the sales, how did you guys do?

My top 10 moisturisers of all time

Elizabeth Arden 8hour cream

Since its winter and therefore a drying time for most I thought it was a good time to do my first "Favourites" list, of moisturisers! I think moisturisers are one of my favourite products to buy, and to use because of all the beautiful smells, and the packaging, the different textures for different uses, I love them, I moisturise every single time I have a bath, even if I'm feeling lazy I will make sure to do at least my dry bits.

So here goes, these are body moisturisers not face moisturisers by the way and they are mainly drugstore buys which are affordable and easy to get your hands on. (They are in no particular order).

Firstly my 2 favourite hand creams are the famous Hand Food by Soap & Glory (£4.99 www.boots.com), it is such a bargain 125ml for a fiver! But not only that its super duper moisturising, the name is perfect because it really feels like it fills your hands up with moisture, it's thick and creamy so you don't need much and it smells gorgeous, I've been through so many tubes of this I cannot count. The second is the gorgeous Dry Skin Hand Cream by L'Occitane (£19 uk.loccitane.com), this is a slightly more pricey product but it deserves to be in my top 10, this is my go to hand cream, you only need the tiniest amount (even for someone like me who usually loves to pile it on) so the higher price point is fine, it is designed for dry skin so it is slightly greasy when rubbing in but dries in normally and it smells really natural which I love.

Next, the BUTTERS, I will talk about them in order of discovery, so firstly the Body Shop Body Butter (£13 www.thebodyshop.co.uk), my favourite is actually the Vitamin E body butter as I'm obsessed with the Vitamin E line, but its really the texture that makes me loves these, this is a vanilla one that was on sale so I'm using this to show you. Anyway, I discovered this when I was like 11, maybe younger? When my Nan bought me a set and I LOVED it, it's so thick, the smells are hypnotising and it's just sinks right in. Beautiful. Secondly, I discovered The Righteous Butter by Soap & Glory (£10.50 www.boots.com) which just like everything from the range smells beautiful, again, it's a really thick cream that soaks in really well, keeps you moisturised for hours and lasts ages. Last, but definitely not least is, I think my favourite, and most used of the 3, the Cocoa Radiant Rich Body Butter by Vaseline (£4.99 www.boots.com) the smell is not like any other cocoa butter range, it's sweeter and more edible (don't actually eat it though) beautifully thick and not greasy at all, I have one of these open in my bathroom now, one spare and then I received 3 more for Christmas, that's how much I love it.

Now for the super gooey, thick and greasy stuff. Firstly I had to put the Eight Hour Cream by Elizabeth Arden (£25 www.boots.com) again, slightly more pricey but can be used for so many things, you can save on buying lots of separate products, and you really only ever use a bit because of the consistency, in the jar/tube it's a thick sort of gel, but when you get it on the skin it's more greasy so you can cover a big area with a small amount, I use this mainly on my lips and on sunburn and it works wonders. Then Sudocrem (from £1.99 www.boots.com) which again is very thick and creamy in the pot until you touch it and then it's a super greasy consistency, it's for intense moisture, so I use this when I get the dry skin around my nose I just pile it on before I go to bed, it's also really good for spots/redness, so I sometimes use it as like a mask and plaster it all over my face before bed (put a towel over your pillow) it's so cheap and so great, can't complain. And lastly, I know a lot of people don't like this version of the Palmers range but its actually my favourite, it's kind of like Vaseline in the tub, a bit more solid though, and I use this on my stretch marks, not all the time but like once a week I put this all over the area and then use my normal moisturiser everywhere else, it's way too greasy to use all over, but this is also a great one for sunburn (£3.25 www.boots.com).

This is a summer staple, I think it came out last summer and it was an impulse buy for me because I'm always super stocked up on moisturisers at home, but I saw this on offer and had to get it. The Spray & Go by Vaseline in Cocoa Radiant (obviously) (£4.99 www.boots.com) it sprays out like an airbrush spray, really softly but covers a good area, because of the tin it always sprays out cold which is why it's great for summer. It's not greasy at all, it's really refreshing and light, and unlike other spray moisturisers I have tried it absorbs as soon as you start rubbing it in, instead of having to massage it in for 10 mins. I love it because its so quick, the last thing I want to do in the summer heat is spend 20 minutes rubbing body butter into me when it's just going to melt off. Definitely try it if you haven't.

And lastly, I couldn't think of one more product that I really liked and relied on, so I decided to add in that I actually love all the perfumed body lotions that you get free in gift sets, I just picked these three as they were at hand, but I love them all. I never use them all over my body, I only ever use them on the areas I put perfume, I usually cover my neck and chest and then both arms, I find it helps to keep the scent longer when you layer it with the perfume, and I love that for the evening especially, because I hate carrying a full sized perfume in a tiny clutch it looks so bulky!
