L'oreal Infallible Fixing Mist

L'oreal Infallible Fixing Mist

This has actually been in my stash ever since it was released, a good few months now, and it is actually coming to and end now so I thought it was time I write my thoughts.

So, you get a pretty generous amount in the bottle and it's a reasonable high street price (100ml/7.99), the bottle comes with some small ball bearings inside (like a lot of ail polishes too) which help to mix the product when it is shaken and it does really need to be shaken well as you can see the powdery part of the mixture settle at the bottom of the bottle when it's not in use.

The spray is pretty light but I would still say it is more of a spray than a mist, it says to hold the bottle around 20-25cm away when spraying, I would definitely follow this guide, as the few times I have accidentally used it closer my face has felt very dry and stiff. I think this product is great for the high street, when used as directed, I do find it slightly heavier on the skin than the likes of the Urban Decay version but it really does help make up stay put and I can tell the difference if I forget tower it one day.

Have you tried this?

La Roche Posay Effaclar BB Blur

acne prone skin

I picked this up after the launch, used it for a good while and then it was forgotten but since the sun has decided to show its face in the UK I thought it was time to bust it back out again.

I realised I had never reviewed it here so here are my thoughts...

So this is a BB cream of sorts, but I actually find its more like a tinted primer, think Benefits Porefessional with a bit more coverage, well actually quite a lot more coverage. I suffer with blemishes and scarring and this manages to cover both really well whilst filling in any pores to give a very smooth base. It definitely feels more of a skincare type product on the skin and also contains a generous SPF20 which is handy.

I found it was best to apply with a brush and dab over with a beauty blender to hide any brush strokes. It is pretty sloppy on the skin so I would go for a setting spray just incase as the finish is already very matte and adding powder just wouldn't work. Layering a bit of bronzer and blush is ok but be very light handed as it will cling to the brush and leave a cakey mess. I found the shades to be slightly muddy when heavily applied but for a natural coverage it did blend seamlessly into my jawline.

I think this is a really great one for those girls (like me) who have problem skin and struggle to find something suitably lightweight for the summer heat but still with enough coverage. Very quick and easy to apply and blend and it does work well with most other make up once you master what application technique is best. It's also a great price too, I will be continuing to use mine for as long as the sun holds out.

Have you tried this? What did you think?

Lush Let the Good Times Roll

Buche de Noel cleanser

Lush Let the Good Times Roll cleanser

Omg! Is all I can say for this, so I picked this up a few months ago after using the Buche De Noel over Christmas and I'm pretty sure I can say I will be repurchasing this over and over again.

It has a super sweet scent so if you don't like that look away now, it's supposed to be popcorn as that is what it contains but I find its more like real sweets, either way, I love it. It has a grainy texture which makes it a kind of 2-in-1 exfoliator/ cleanser, so handy for travel!

I remove all my make up first with an oil or a balm, and then take a pinch of this, wet it in my hands and smooth it all over my face, rubbing it in where I want to exfoliate. Then just splash it off with warm water and it leaves my skin so smooth and soft, it does leave a slight residue, not sticky or greasy but just like an added layer of moisture which is perfect after exfoliating so the skin doesn't feel right or stripped.

I'm a huge fan and I'm nearly finished with my current tub so I look forward to getting a nice new one soon. Have you ever tried this?

RMS Beauty Coconut Cream

coconut oil

I have read about this a number of times but I was always happy with my BodyShop Camomile Oil, but at Christmas there were plenty of offers so I managed to find it for a bargain price.

So this is actually coconut cream, which is derived from coconut oil and is not treated by anything whatsoever and is totally natural. A lot of people are scared of coconut oil or any oil for that matter, but coconut oil is know for its anti fungal and anti bacterial properties which makes it a great cleanser and generally really good for he skin.

This smells amazing, coconut as you would imagine but very soft and creamy. I used a small amount which I let melt into my fingers and smooth all over my face (full of make up) sounds gross I know, but it's great. This loosens eye make up without tugging at all and foundation comes off without any trouble at all, I then wipe my face clean with a Muslim cloth and repeat if necessary. Leaves my skin so soft, not greasy at all, Infact there is no residue, only soft moisturised skin.

It's worth noting that this is oily therefore when it heats up it does melt, so it should be stored flat and in a relatively cool place. I will definitely be restocking when I'm done with this tub. Have you tried it?

Huge Sale Haul

beauty sales

The New Years beauty sales were just amazing this year, I completely forgot all the bargains I managed to grab until I spotted these photos, I had clearly planned a blog post that I never got round to.

I was most happy about being able to try a lad of new products without having to rise the big price tags, I finally ordered the RMS Beauty Raw Coconut Cream, so glad I did, haven't used it all up yet as its quite awkward to travel with but amazing nonetheless. The Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm was another pricey one I had been dying to try, completely loved this, its all gone now, the scent was beautiful and it was so gentle on the skin, managed to nab a Kiehls Creamy Eye treatment on discount (my go-to eye cream), and also picked up the Rare Earth Pore Minimizing Lotion after trying the mask from the range and being very impressed I had high hopes for this, started using it a little while ago so thoughts coming soon. The Laura Mercier Loose powder had been on my wish list for a while and when I spotted the Undercover Pot (half concealer/half powder) I knew I had to try it, of course I love it. I also ordered the Mizon Blemish Out spot treatment, very similar to what I imagine the Mario Badescu one to be like, and it works a treat- very strong though. Finally for skincare I managed to get a little REN duo, the Flash Rinse 1 minute facial & the Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask, both of which I thought would be great for travelling. I also spotted the famous Philip Kingsley Elasticizer in a travel duo and last but not least I found the Jouer Skin Tint on sale and they actually had the shade I was after (Linen) as the one I had was just a shade too dark.

Can you remember why you got in the beauty sales?

Mini Space NK Haul

Caudalie beauty elixir

So Space NK were having one of their "Explore" or "Discovery" offers just recently where you spend £60 and get £15 off. I think this is a great little offer they have pretty frequently and the idea is to get you to try something new as of course you worry less about trying new products when you are paying much less for them. The sales pitch gets me every time, of course this time was no different.

I did chose a couple of repurchases, the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer because I like to have a back up of this as its my all time favourite, it's also handy to get keep one in my bag as well as one at my dressing table. The Caudalie Beauty Elixir was another repurchase, I thought it would be handy to have this for travel as the bottle is so small, glad I ordered this as they have improved the spray pump since my last bottle and it's now a real mist instead of spray.

My "Explore" products were the new Sweet Almond Oil & Matcha Nails Inc polish in the shade 'Cornwall Gardens' which sounds like an interesting concept, nail varnish that is healthy for your nails, I think it's about to become a new trend as I have already seen the Coconut infused versions from Barry M making a big hit, the shade is a greige with a slight hint of lilac, very pretty. Finally I picked up the Oribe Dry Texturizing spray, or course I got the travel sized version, I couldn't go for the £40 bottle having never tried it, I was pleased to find the little bottle is very weighty as some of the travel sizes feel like there is nothing in there and it smells great, I'll get a review up when I have put it through its paces.

Did you get anything with the Explore60 discount?

Gone So Long

apology

Hello everyone who is still following and checking in every now and then, I just wanted to get a quick post up to apologise for the lack of content on here over the last few months. I have started a new job role at work which has been consuming an awful lot of my time, and even when it isn't, it is the reason I am too tired to blog, however, I am getting into the swing of things now and really want to get back to blogging, I have tonnes of content that has been building up since Christmas as I have still been up to date on new beauty launches and have photographed everything ready for review, I just haven't got round to the reviewing part. I am going to start scheduling again as that was working really well for me before and it is the easiest way to keep up to date on here and not create myself a huge backlog like I have now. (whoops!!) I just wanted to thank those of you who are still following and let you know that content will be coming back very soon, it may be slightly out of sync as I have accumulated these bits over the last 3 months but I will try and keep it as relevant as possible and will maybe back date some of the themed posts (from Christmas or Valentines etc.). I hope this is all good with you guys and don't forget you can follow my Instagram (thegluelessscr4pbook) for constant updates as I am always on there.

Looking forward to getting posting again, until then, take care.

Lush Valentines Haul

grease lightening

A little Lush haul I did at the beginning of February, picked up a few new bits and some old favourites.

I desperately needed some new spot gel (sorry, but I did) so I went back to an old favourite Grease Lightening, and thought I'd treat myself to a bath bomb so went back to good old Think Pink, not too pricey smells lovely.

I picked up a new cleanser as well, after trying the Buche de Noel at Christmas time I thought why not? So I went for the super sweet smelling Let the Good Times Roll, which also acts as an exfoliant, perfect!

And of course I had to get a few of the Valentines specials, I went for the Unicorn Horn Bubble Bar and the The Kiss lip scrub, after donating my Bubblegum version to my mum I needed a new one and this one smells just like sherbet. Yum!

Lush are always so great at giving samples so I also got a few bits to try whilst I was in there, I always love the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner so I got another sample of that and wanted to try some of their body exfoliators so the lady suggested Rub Rub Rub and Ocean Salt.

Have you picked up anything from Lush recently?

February Favourites

favourites

Lush Salted Coconut Hand Scrub

This is the most wonderful invention ever, until this I didn't even know I needed a hand scrub but now I can't live without it. The smell is really soft and not overpowering and it leaves my hands in unbelievably good condition, works on feet too.

NYX Buttergloss in Tiramisu

I love the formula of these glosses, they are much more of a lip balm feel, not tacky at all and this shade has been most used this month, it's a browny nude with a bit of peach and it's just so easy to wear.

Marc Jacobs Undercover Primer

I got my auntie to pick this up from New York for me as you could not get it here at the time and I am so glad I did, it is totally worth the price tag, so silky and very nourishing, I have been wearing it every day, it's not greasy so it good for us oily girls and for those concerned about the scent it's very subtle, highly recommend this one.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette

Thankfully managed to nab one of these and much to the disagreement of many, I actually think it's great value for someone who wants to try all that they offer with ought shelling out on the full sized versions, I have been using this for my whole face all month, barely touching anything else. I'm in love with the bronzer.

Origins Original Skin Retexturising Mask

Literally love this mask, it does exactly what it says without drying the skin out and is not even that pricey, the scent is nice too which is always a benefit and it sets quickly so it's easy to use just before you are going out.

The Comforter Shower Cream

Finally got to try this out after picking it up in a huge Lush haul and I can safely say it is worth the hype, the fruity raspberry scent is amazing they only concern is it leaves everything with a slight pink tinge... Rinse your shower out thoroughly!

& Other Stories Camlet Hand Balm

and other stories beauty

& Other Stories Camlet Hand Balm (75ml/ £7)

I have had this in my stash for a long while now and thought it was about time it got a little review. Firstly I have to comment on the packaging, as with all & Other Stories packaging it is very chic and minimal, the other hand creams are usually in a white metal tube however this is in a silver tube which really reminds me of the L'occitane packaging, and it also comes housed in its own box.

This has a sweet citrus scent that is instantly refreshing and it is not at all overpowering so I think it is very universal and actually unisex too. This is actually a balm so it really is very hydrating however it does leave a coating on the skin, it's not greasy or anything, it's more of a protective film which I actually quite like. Although it is a balm it does look like a cream but you really only need the smallest amount therefore I think this tube really will last a long while and for £7 I think it's great value.

If you haven't tried anything from the & Other Stories beauty range you should definitely pop in, there is bound to be something that you will like. They also offer free samples of the shower gel and body lotion with any online purchase, so that is a really good way to test out all the different scents before committing.
